  1. 1.4.2 Version 1.4.2 — Update 14 Highlights

Also includes three new games in the Games window, full translations for every supported language, and a number of fixes and refinements across the taskbar, widgets and settings.

    • Game Hub is now Sports Hub — six sports in one window: Dota 2, Football, Formula 1, Chess, Baseball and Ice Hockey, each with standings, fixtures, leaders and in-app team, player and match details.
    • Command palette — press Ctrl+K (⌘K on Mac) to search every bookmark, note, todo, collection and desktop, and to run any app or action without hunting through menus.
    • Offline mode — Polaris TabOS now notices when you lose connection: network features stop erroring, your last-loaded content stays on screen with a "last updated" stamp, the taskbar shows the status, and everything refreshes the moment you reconnect.
    • New Calendar app — browse any month or year across six calendar systems, see public holidays for your country, and convert a date between calendars (Persian, Hijri, Hebrew, Indian, Buddhist and Gregorian).
    • Prayer times — available as both a desktop widget and a tab in the Calendar app, with seven calculation methods, the Hijri date, and a live countdown to the next prayer.
    • On This Day widget — historical events for today from Wikipedia, with pictures and links.
    • Currency — a converter app and a compact widget, using European Central Bank reference rates.
    • Picture of the Day — optionally use Wikimedia Commons’ daily featured image as your wallpaper, from Settings → Wallpaper.
    • Follow the sun — an optional theme mode that switches to light at sunrise and dark at sunset, available from Settings or by cycling the taskbar theme button.
    • Per-widget appearance — lock any widget to light or dark regardless of the app theme, and choose a glassy or solid background per widget. A new global "Glassy surfaces" setting covers widgets, notes and todos.
    • Notes and todos now follow the Comic template properly, with the same ink borders, tilt and paper styling as the rest of the theme.
    • Luminex — pilot a light drone across a sector grid, collect energy and outrun your own trail.
    • Asterift — clear a sector grid without striking an asteroid, with sectors, discoveries and a codex to fill.
    • Chess — play Stockfish at eight strengths, review your games, or use the board for analysis.
  2. 1.4.1 Version 1.4.1 — Tutorial Videos 2 Highlights
    • How To now has embedded video tutorials for every section — Extension Bar, Themes & Settings, Templates, Search/AI/Trust, Bookmarks & Directories, Desktop Manager, Tab Manager, Trading Charts, News Feed, Website Directory, Collections, Focus Mode, Notes, Todo, and Widgets.
    • Added two new How To sections: Extension Bar and Trust Box, each with their own tutorial video.
  3. 1.4.0 Version 1.4.0 — Comic Theme, Game Hub & Instant Setup 8 Highlights

The most-visited option asks for permission only when you use it — nothing is added without your action. Factory reset affects local data only and can’t be undone, so export a backup first if unsure.

    • Head Start onboarding — during setup, populate your first desktop in one click from your most-visited sites (with your permission) or by importing your browser bookmarks.
    • Factory reset — a new “Reset Polaris TabOS” button in Settings → Data wipes all your data and returns to a clean install (with confirmation, since it can’t be undone).
    • Clearer sound credits — focus-mode ambience now links the track, its creator, and its license.
    • New Comic template — a hand-drawn comic-book skin for the whole desktop: torn-paper windows, inked taskbar, Start menu, context menus and widgets, in both light and dark.
    • Comic Focus Mode — a dedicated paper/comic focus environment for the Comic template: tasks pinned as comic panels on an animated spread, click a spot to add one, zoom in to focus, with its own ambience.
    • New Game Hub app — Dota 2 powered by the OpenDota API with full coverage: Heroes, Pro Matches, Public Matches, Pro Players, Teams, Leagues, Live Games, Records and Find Player — each opening rich in-app detail views without leaving Polaris TabOS.
    • Widgets gain a snap-to-grid option — turn it on from the widget picker for grid guides while moving and resizing.
    • Google Drive backup now works cross-browser (Chrome and Edge); pick your template and theme right during onboarding; and the tutorial opens automatically after setup.
  4. 1.3.0 Version 1.3.0 — Lists, Volume Booster & Cloud Backup 9 Highlights

Google sign-in is requested only when you click Connect — never at install, and can be disconnected anytime. The built-in “Not Determined” list status can’t be deleted. Everything is included in local and Google Drive backups.

    • New Lists app — organize things you want to watch, play, read, buy, learn, or revisit, under your own categories with any number of custom statuses
    • Every item can hold multiple links (a Steam page, trailer, review — with the real title and favicon fetched for you), free-form tags, a 1–10 priority, a progress field like “45%” or “Chapter 7”, and related notes
    • Add to lists from anywhere — right-click a web page → “Add page to a list”, or use the new List tab in the browser popup; filter and search by category, status, or tag in grid or list view
    • Back up and restore your whole workspace with Google Drive — one click in Settings → Data, stored in a private, app-only file that never touches your regular Drive
    • Local export/import now covers everything, including notes, todos, and focus-session history that were previously missing; local import and Drive restore both ask for confirmation first
    • Volume Booster — set any tab’s audio from 0% to 600% right from the extension popup (100% is normal, above amplifies). Perfect for quiet videos.
    • New About page — rate Polaris TabOS on the Chrome Web Store, a “Support the project” section, and contact links; a matching “Rate us” link lives in the How-To window too.
    • Privacy control — a Settings → Data toggle for the external page-title fetch (on by default); favicons always come from the site’s own domain.
    • Desktop polish — holding a pin now shows a “scroll to resize” hint, and holding a pin no longer accidentally triggers widget mode.
  5. 1.2.0 Version 1.2.0 — Select Text, Send It Anywhere 3 Highlights

Turns any web page into a source for your notes, todos, and focus sessions — no copy-paste, no switching tabs.

    • Highlight any text on a page and right-click: add it to a note or todo (current desktop, or pick from all your desktops, pinned by default), or send it straight to Focus Mode as a planned task
    • The bookmark and trust-check menu items got the same treatment refined — same desktop-targeting pattern across every action
    • Quick boxes (search, AI, trust) now render behind open windows instead of floating above everything
  6. 1.1.1 Version 1.1.1 — Search Policy Compliance 3 Highlights

A compliance release addressing Chrome Web Store review feedback about combining new-tab and search functionality.

    • The quick search box now always uses your actual default search engine via Chrome's own Search API, instead of a built-in engine picker
    • Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave Search, Startpage, Kagi, Yahoo, Baidu, Naver, and Yandex are now listed as regular sites in the Website Directory, under a new "Search Engines" category
    • This keeps Polaris TabOS focused on a single purpose — replacing the new tab page — without bundling a separate search experience
  7. 1.1.0 Version 1.1.0 — Popup Power-Up 6 Highlights

A quality release focused on the browser popup and cross-tab syncing.

    • New Trust tab in the browser popup: check the site you are on with ScamMinder, ScamAdviser, URLVoid, VirusTotal, or Google Safe Browsing
    • Check the full URL or just the domain — the current page is prefilled automatically
    • The popup now tells you when a page is already bookmarked, with a one-click "Go to desktop"
    • Bookmarks and notes saved from the popup appear instantly on already-open Polaris TabOS tabs — no refresh needed
    • Fixes: widget remove button is clickable again, and widget mode long-press now works reliably in Microsoft Edge
    • Polaris TabOS in every page’s right-click menu: add bookmarks to any desktop and run trust checks without leaving the site
  8. 1.0.0 Version 1.0.0 — The Big Release 6 Highlights

This release consolidates everything shipped in the first public version of Polaris TabOS.

    • Full OS-style new tab: multiple desktops, windows, taskbar, start menu, bookmarks, directories, notes and todos
    • Focus mode with the interactive 3D brain: pin tasks to spots, timed sessions with progress, ambient sounds and session history
    • New windows: News reader (26+ sources + custom RSS), multi-source Trading charts, and the Website Directory
    • Quick boxes in the taskbar: web search, AI assistants, and the website trust checker
    • New widgets (weather, trading, news), interactive guided tour, and the animated "Nebula Drift" wallpaper
    • 8 languages with full RTL support, multiple calendar systems, light/dark themes, and full data export/import
